Aria · Artist, wife and mother
The silence she wanted initially makes her restless. Protecting the children, reclaiming her creative life and finding a place in the community require her to build an identity beyond being recognized.

Original RLP television world · In development
A celebrated author and musician leave Los Angeles for a Canadian town and discover quiet does not erase ambition.
The concept
Aria and Luca travel north with five-year-old Maya and one-year-old Theo, trading Los Angeles for a house overlooking a waterfall. Luca wants to write honestly; Aria wants space to discover who she is when she is not performing. For a brief moment, the local coffee shop offers the anonymity they imagined.
Then recognition spreads through town. Welcome dinners, school routines and neighbors’ curiosity bring a different kind of visibility. As winter closes in, the family has to face isolation, strained creativity and the challenge of asking for support. The landscape becomes part of the drama: beautiful, relentless and impossible to control.
People & relationships
The silence she wanted initially makes her restless. Protecting the children, reclaiming her creative life and finding a place in the community require her to build an identity beyond being recognized.
A rented writing cabin seems to promise freedom, but the blank page follows him there. Writing without an audience’s approval becomes as difficult as creating a home outside the industry.
Maya voices the family’s uncertainty without disguising it. A new classroom and a friendship with Sophie give the move everyday emotional stakes that her parents cannot solve through fame.
Theo makes the practical work of parenting ever-present. Feeding, settling and caring for a young child ground the adults’ larger questions about identity and ambition.
A casserole comes with questions. Their welcome can feel intrusive, but it also challenges the couple’s fantasy of being both part of a community and completely unknown.
The librarian connects Aria’s public life to the town; Maya’s teacher provides a grounded perspective on adjustment; Claire’s admiration of Luca introduces another pressure on the marriage.
Story journey
The move, a community dinner and new routines turn an imagined refuge into a place full of real people. Anonymity proves fragile, but early connections begin to form.
Family life and the approaching winter test the move’s promise. Building a home requires more than distance from Los Angeles.
December, January, February and March give the season its final movement. Darkness and isolation give way to renewed creativity and the possibility of belonging.
World & visual storytelling
The waterfall is a constant presence, replacing the sound of Los Angeles without offering perfect silence. The house, cabin, school, library and coffee shop make a small but emotionally varied world. Seasonal light tracks the family’s movement from escape toward belonging.

Winter Falls · Written by Amy Matthew · Selected excerpt
INT. THEIR HOUSE - NIGHT They’re trying to sleep. But the house is so quiet. In LA, there’s always noise. Traffic. The machine running. Here: Just the sound of the falls. Constant. ARIA I keep waiting for something to happen. LUCA Nothing’s going to happen. ARIA I know. And I don’t know how to be when nothing’s happening. LUCA Then we figure it out. But they both lie awake. Listening to the falls. Wondering if they made a terrible mistake.

INT. WINTER FALLS COMMUNITY CENTER - NIGHT There’s a community dinner. Potluck style. LUCA and ARIA didn’t expect it to be THIS big. But everyone is here. Waiting to meet them. RICHARD is there (the neighbor). MRS. PATTERSON is there (the librarian). JENNY is there (the barista). And about 200 other people. ARIA (whispering to Luca) This is a nightmare. LUCA Just smile. Be nice. Get through it. ARIA I don’t want to perform. LUCA Then don’t. Just be yourself. But being yourself is hard when everyone’s watching.
