The Socials

Teen thriller

An elite clique destroys students online until an anonymous avenger turns the school’s most watched teenagers into targets.

Created by Amy MatthewMulti-season series development

Public treatment

They destroyed lives online. Now someone is turning the feed against them.

An elite high-school clique controls reputation through posts, rumors, private messages, and the certainty that everyone else is watching. When an anonymous avenger begins exposing them, their influence becomes the evidence used against them.

The thriller moves between public performance and private fear. Each character must confront whether they were a leader, accomplice, target, or bystander—and what justice becomes when punishment is designed for an audience.

Format: One-hour teen thriller

Tone: Stylized, seductive, paranoid, and twist-driven, with small-city noir energy and credible consequences.

The world: A wealthy high school where anonymous accounts, influencer events, private parties, media labs, and powerful families turn attention into currency.

Pilot story

The opening hour.

The Socials livestream the party of the year while engineering a student’s collapse. At midnight every screen switches to unseen footage of their earlier attacks and a message: You taught us that attention is punishment. Class starts now. The footage vanishes, but one student is missing.

First-season treatment

The complete public season arc.

An avenger releases evidence in chapters, forcing each member to experience the humiliation once inflicted on a victim. Rowan returns as suspect and reluctant ally. Theo discovers their archive was copied; Poppy’s admission was engineered; adults suppress evidence to protect donors. The missing student is found alive and the revenge campaign proves to be a network of former targets—while someone inside the clique may have founded it.

Series runway: Future seasons widen beyond one school through copycat accounts, influencer culture, adult complicity, and the question of whether public accountability can avoid becoming mob cruelty.
